Records of the Office of the Academic Dean
Abstract
Records of the Office of the Academic Dean, known alternatively as the Dean of the College, Dean of the Faculty, Vice President of Academic Affairs, or Provost. It is a senior leadership position responsible for the academic program and, at times, student affairs. The office traces its origins to Hans A. Urseth in 1907, though its function expanded and diversified over the 20th century. In 2004, this role at Augsburg became the Office of the Provost, which was reverted to the title of Dean two years later. In 2013, the position once again became that of the Provost.
